박지나는 홍익대 조소과와 동 대학원 조소과, 브룩스 사진학교에서 디지털 이미징을 전공하고 홍익대 미술학 박사학위를 받았다. <스스로 움직이는 것들>(2014), <발끝과 목소리>(2016), <부록; 낱장의 형태>(2017), <받아쓰기>(2018), <목소리들>(2019), <흔들리는 언어>(2019), <Touching the Void>(2020), <허공이 가득한 몸>(2023) 등의 개인전 제목에서 유추할 수 있듯, 사진과 영상, 설치와 공명하는 소설과 시 쓰기를 통해 언어와 언어, 이미지와 이미지, 이미지와 언어가 서로 만나면서도 어긋나는 지점들을 붙들어왔다.
2017년 『책이라 불리는 부록들』(청색종이)을 발간하였고, 국립현대미술관, 경기도 미술관, 가톨릭대학교 은평성모병원, 장자호수생태공원 등에 작품이 소장되어 있다.
